Amber J. Heck, PhD
Dr. Heck began her career as a medical educator at the Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Parker, Colorado, where she discovered her interest in curriculum design and development in cell and molecular biology and physiology. She then served as founding faculty within two new medical schools, the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine in San Antonio, Texas, and the Texas Christian University and UNTHSC School of Medicine in Fort Worth, Texas, contributing to the development of innovative, flipped classroom, active learning pre-clerkship curricula.
Throughout her career, Dr. Heck has focused her efforts on creating novel interventions to promote learner success in early medical education. She has developed a wide variety of learning experiences to ensure a strong foundational knowledge of the basic sciences relevant to clinical practice, and the non-cognitive skills necessary to succeed in medical school. Dr. Heck is active within the medical education community, and contributes to scholarship and faculty development, internationally. In 2016, she became a Fellow of the International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE), and in 2020 she was awarded the IAMSE Early Career Award for Excellence in Teaching and Innovation.

Amanda J. Chase, PhD
Dr. Amanda J. Chase is an Associate Professor of Medical Education and Director of Interprofessional Collaboration at the Nova Southeastern University, Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine (NSU MD). An active member of the medical education community, she contributes to faculty development nationally and has facilitated dozens of workshops on the scholarship of teaching and learning at leading conferences on health professions education.

The Curriculum Committee develops, evaluates, and recommends changes to the curricular structure, content, educational outcomes, learning environment, and assessment methodologies of the four-year undergraduate medical education program. Prior to taking on the Chair role, Dr. Chase served as a member of the NSU MD Curriculum Committee and Chair of the Curriculum Integration and Evaluation Sub-Committee.
Course Director, Nova Southeastern University College of Allopathic Medicine
Dr. Chase currently co-directs the NSU MD Cardiovascular, Pulmonary, and Renal Block and has course directed other integrated, first- and second-year medical school blocks, including: host defense, musculoskeletal, dermatology, neurology, and psychiatry.
Director of Interprofessional Collaboration, Nova Southeastern University College of Allopathic Medicine
Dr. Chase designs and delivers interprofessional sessions and assesses outcomes of the Interprofessional Collaboration Competency across all four years of the undergraduate medical education program. She serves as the College of Allopathic Medicine representative on the Center for Interprofessional Education and Practice Steering Committee which organizes an annual Interprofessional Education Day that brings together over 1800 health professions learners and 125 faculty facilitators to strengthen collaborative practice and promote effective team communication skills. In 2021, she was invited to join the Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) First Reactor Group and will offer suggestions on the earliest revision of the IPEC Core Competencies.
